Due to circumstances beyond my control I am in posession of a Impreza STi V5 (1999) engine which has been significantly dismantled. The engine had suffered a no. 2 piston detonation but was otherwise in working order (obviously not now). There is an estimated 50 hours of work to put it all back together again, presumably assuming you know what you're doing. It had done about 42,000m before all this bollox.

How much is it worth?

what could possibly take 50 hours to do?

takes about 3 hours max to strip it down completely.

engine builders from scratch usually quote about 30 hours to build.

Need to see severity of damage, is what can be reused.

If everything can be reused but its going to take about 1400 worth of labour to build then I reckon £600 - £800.

I wasn't all that clear, I meant much could I sell it for? I was told that it would take about 50 hours to put it all back together again.

As Adam has said, without knowing just how much damage has been done to the block, crank, rods, etc', it's hard to give a value.

Mark.

As a matter of interest the person who quoted 50 hours to put it back together also made you a low offer on it as well saying "its not the parts old son its the labour"

a day at most to reassemble if you know abvout engines, less it you know about Subaru engines i guess

Hard to value, especially as it may not all be there and there may be more damage ?!?
