Question

as the title says , can u run an jap sti on sul only, without causeing any problems? if it hasn't started to detonate is it more likely to than a car run with an added octane boost? the car has done appox 35k with no other mods.

SUL is the minimum you should run it on.

I have a wrx & now only stick Shell Optimax in it, I have a couple of bottle of octane booster always in the car for emergencies when no shell garages are about, if that is the case I always try & get good quality pertol, BP or esso

JAP cars are mapped for 100 ron fuel, sul is 97 ron, optimax is 98.something ron, so if you want the full potential of the car optimax + Octane booster

And if you want to take the fullest of advantages get the car re-mapped to use 98RON safely.
A lot of cars still suffer from detonation problems when running on OPTIMAX.

Cheers

when you say re-mapped is that an ECU reset by taking the battery lead off or using the leads under steering or is it getting hooked up to select system ?
