Unhappy

I installed a unifilter rampod last week, and afterwards I lost some performance. I cleaned the MAF sensor today, and the performance is back, probably a bit better than before I put the Unifilter on, but now the idle is fluctuating. I've read here that this probably means the MAF sensor is dead, but why does the car still run good, with just a bad idle???

MY99-00 cars have very 'fragile' MAF sensors

I had similar probs before mine gave up completely!

The worrying thing is that a MAF can under read, giving rich or the really bad thing is over reading and running the car lean when in boost

Dont want to 'scare' you, but lean off too much at boost/high rpm and it equals HOT, this then melts things!

Get it checked out.

If you have AFR or similar you can 'see' the fuelling.

what is the 'MAF' sensor?......got an my00 (standard uk) and it started to loose its 0-60 power and when it was hot there was some smellies i didn't like......put it in and they said it needed the throttle sensor adjusting which they did....it kinda felt better after but soon slipped back to how it was...now it seems to happen on and off, somtimes it seems ok and others not! any idea?

I was told that idle problems can be linked to the lamda sensor (oxygen sensor in the exhaust)

Wink

Mine has also just started to do the same and the check engine light came on briefly today

Just been in for a service so surely they should be picking this sort of stuff up if the MAF has gone!!!! Of to the dealer in the morning I think
