John Banks here from Greece

What boost control are you presently using - the ECU or the Dawes? What boost is it running presently?

Hi John (and Wrexy)

I'm running the Dawes at the moment, find the 1.3mm restrictor is just a tad too low, the urgency of the car seems to go with this fitted.

The dawes is running at a held boost of 17psi on a delta run I did yesterday, with a peak reading of 17.4psi, I did 4 runs in 2nd 3rd and 4th and 5th at WOT and didn't get one knock reading

I'm very happy with the way my car is running, thanks for all your help.

John

I've done exactly the reverse, and temporarily put the OEM pipes back on (there is a good reason and it's not for long!).

Had a long fast drive last night. Chilly breeze. I was defo getting 0.1 bar less boost than usual in those conditions.

Floyd now has my nice Prodrive pipe-work and no doubt he'll post something if he notices a difference.

Cheers,

Richard.

Thumbs up

I've not fitted it yet, just got a few tweeks to do on it and a good clean of course

But I'll post results when I eventually get to drive it, just waiting for a nice dry day

Thanks once again to Hoppy

Question

John (MS)

Is that an STI 4/5 i/c? Is there a difference between this one and a std MY99/00 one? They look identical except for the colour.

Yup its off a P1, but the same as an STi5/6 AFAIK

It has better cooling qualities by using a bigger internal chamber.

Anyone else get overboost this morning ?

I thought I would see 4680 posts 'is this overboost ?' this evening...perhaps its just me, 10deg ambient this morning

It only happened once on my journey to work, luckily I have prempted this and have a 'low' setting of 1.2bar....seems to work

Enjoy ya break JB, thanks Mega and hello to everyone else

Overboost MD? Whassat then?, I got all dem gauges and nevver look at them Must admit, the car was running nice and smooth this morning. Scoobysports for a service tomorrow though!

Nice one Mega, I dont feel so bad for selling that kit complete now.

From memory your car was quick already and running 16psi without the pipe, that is good for a standard car and the 17psi figure just goes to show the homework STI did in the production of the intercooler/pipe combination.
