Baffled oil sumps
#1
In connection with Andy F's post below, does anyone know if there is a need for, or a supplier of, baffled oil sumps?
I realise that oil starvation would logically starve all the bearings equally to some extent, rather than just 2& 3 or Adam's no4, but I assume that in line with John Felstead's good point on fuel surge, how about oil surge?

A baffled sump is always a good idea if your doing a lot of heavy track work.
Speak to Pete Croney he had one on the Scoobysport RA.
Very expensive mind

john's complaint was the baffling of the fuel tank was insufficient not the oil sump.
He fitted an anti fuel surge device in his tank, which I would love him to post some pictures of.
The standard oil sump is not bad, but there are two other vrsion available and not cheap.
The group n sump has internal plates welded in and from the experiences of a great friend of mine playing around with it full of water which is less viscous, it worked very well indeed. These are damn rare to buy and not cheap, but not ridiculous.
There is thent he wrc sump. this is custom fabrictaed from scratch and is trapezium shaped. It has extension sections or ears, but its internal baffling is much the same as the group n sump above which from the outside looks the same as the standard sump.
The wrc sump is beneficial in that it has an extra litre of oil capacity, and also the "ears" design means it is far more likely to retain its oil inside. These sumps are far from cheap if available at all, you are looking at circa £1000 if you are lucky.
