Question

Just thinking about changing the rear silencer on my 00+PPP scoob, car has de cat downpipe on at the minute.
wondering if it would be worthwhile or will the car end up too loud
and no quicker.

Been there done that

I have 99 uk with PPP, now has de-cat dp, STi centre (PPP) and Scoobysport back box....all made significant gains even in stages

The PPP bb is more restrictive than SS but is way better than the Subaru bb.

Do it

MD did the gain come in volume or perceived performance?

I agree that adding a decat DP will definitely increase performance but I doubt if you'll feel the same gain again on a SS BB over the PPP round jobbie in PPP state of tune.

IMHO

Oh yes you will Floyd , take MD's advice , you won't be sorry . Thing with a Scoob , it loves a good pipe , the louder the better for performance . Cant ignore basic physics . You decide how much go you want . I found I started with a soft pipe only to progress to the better louder . I draw the line at in car sound level . Actually never had a pipe on a scoob too loud inside the car . Now have 3" straight through with small resonator in the middle . That too may go one day ! These cars need flow to get top end power . If you want , try it in stages and give us your feedback . Join the converted . As a friend once said "ever heard a quiet racing car" I say you ever heard a Formula one car at the track ..... We just sharing our joy .

Floyd, sorry for the delay

Yes there is a noticeable performance increase when going from the Prodrive to the Scoobysport bb.

Yes it is also louder, but this is not too loud (IMHO).

Cheers, MD.

Floyd,

The quiet version of the SS backbox still flows more than the Prodrive one, and is a little quieter.

Question to those who have de-catted an MY99 - how do you get it through the MoT emissions tests?

Cheers
