Er, what should a scoobysport centre section look like?

As title!
I recently bought a 'scoobysport' centre section from someone on this board and now that it's been fitted and I've got the original in my garage there seems to be no difference between the two except for the missing cat. It looks like someone has taken an original impreza centre section (which still has the small silencer/resonator/or whatever it is with 'subaru' written on it) and welded a small metal pipe where the cat used to be.
Is this a scoobysport pipe or a home-made job? I'm not to bothered what it is as long as does exactly the same job as a scoobysport/magnex, etc. Anyone got any idea?

The Scoobysport centre I had was a straight pipe, with no weld marks - one piece.
But it ws a relatively new one. Can't vouch for older ones.

probably, but I'm guessing it's not stainless.
Ironically I would like a decat centre with a resonator for my legacy, but SS don't do any resonated stuff.

Is it a straight piece of tube or does it have an 'expanded' piece which if doesnt have a cat would be a 'resonator'...same as STi pipe
I run STi centre and yes it does flame ol' chap

Yes it has the slightly expanded bit with 'Subaru' written on it. If you look at any mid section that came off a UK 99 Impreza and imagine it with a straight bit of pipe where the cat should be you'll know what mines looks like as that is the only difference. The car is running more boost now without dawes adjustment so it clearly has made a difference. Pulling a little harder too

When i looked at getting a centre section from scoobysport about 3 years ago i was told that it is an exchange unit, they cut the cat out of my standard one, weld in a pip an bingo, straight through.
I have recent communication with Pete Croney about replacing my Magnex resonated one, which i opted for as i did not want to cut the cat out, and he tells me they are manufactured like the downpipe and back box.
You could have an old one!

It does sound like one of our very early ones (at least 3 years old).
We used to do this as we weren't happy with the seal from "cut" flanges that floated on the pipe.
For a long time now our centres have had a pressed flange that is the same spec as the OE pipe.

It seems to be fitted and working alright. Not that I'm any expert but the weld seems ok too. Should I keep it and see how I go or cut my losses and buy a new one?
