LINK Q or R chip with 3-bar Map Sensor
#1
Has anyone actually tried using the 'software' switch to transfer between MAP sensors.
A post on MRT Rally Forum from Link effectively suggests are remap - 'as the rows are recalibrated to be a three bar map'. Well call me stupid - but the ten row Link is a three bar map - thats what Rows 9 and 10 are for - for destruction testing standard internals
Any real live experiences appreciated - also if you have done it - which MAP sensor have you used?
TIA,
Trout

Dave ... yes and it was a 3 bar map sensor !! Doddle really, even sussed why Mark couldn't get it to work when he tried. Ran mine like that for ages .. no different to using the std sensor except you can set higher boost targets of course. Took me sort of about 2 hours to install, suss and remap for it.

Bob,
GREAT....... Wish it had been a doddle when I came over to you for a day of mapping !!!!! Guess we must of missed something.
Mark.

Yup we certainly did, and all that time you spent at Donno with J's car, pretty stupid really, suprising what a bit of calm thought can do. I'd not bothered with it due to the problems you had but finally decided it ought to be investigated, (needed something to do) and voila ... all was revealed.
The clue is in the micro specification.
Think I have a couple of sensors here still somewhere.
cheers

Bob,
but wasn't Mark struggling with the transposition of a Link 6-row - which as far as public awareness provides - has to be recalibrated for the three bar map sensor as the 6-row is based on a two bar map.
However the ten row is based on a three bar map and so in theory should be easily switchable.
So assuming I put in a three bar - and do the software switch - will the map need to be changed - LINK seemed to thing so - starting with MASTER and all fuel and ignition zones - does not sound like it has a transposition table in it to me
Any thoughts would be appreciated

David, to clarify, Mark and I struggled with version 4 Link ecu software at the time which was supposed to contain the callibration for the 3 bar map sensor, in fact it did but link had "forgotten" the essential issue of the tuning module also displaying the results. We spent hour's trying to sort it and Mark spent a fruitless day at Donno with J as well, bottom line ... well link put their hands up and apologised to us ... that was a cople years ago and they sorted it pdq, the version 5 ecu that you have ... and i experimented with ... does report correctly aand, afaik, has aways done since we (Mark and I) sent them the map callibration to do so. So, as I said, its pretty straightforward now but it certainly was not then.
got your mail, give me a ring ... glad to discuss
