Grating noise when on first press of accelerator
#1
If my Scoob's been standing for a couple of days it starts and idles fine, but the very first press of the accelerator (in gear or out) produces a short-lived grating kind of noise. It only does it once, and it won't do it again until the car's left to stand for a day or two.
It sounds like a valve or something isn't lubricated properly (I'm not very mechanical by the way) and is grating as it opens.
Haven't been under the bonnet to locate the sound yet, but does anyone have any idea what it might be?

Probably just the linkages or cable need lubracting with some good quality spray oil (not WD40 as this drys out after 40 or so days).
'Force' is a very good spray oil (if you can get hold of it).
