How long do clutchs last for?
#1
Hi,
How many miles are most people getting out of their first clutch on a standard turbo?
I know it has alot to do with the type of driving the car gets (motorway or town etc) and how you drive (hard or easy).
I would consider myself to be relatively easy on the clutch in the sense that I very rarely do fast standing starts and only occasionally drive the car hard giving the clutch abusive high rpm Up shifts or Down shifts.
My car is MY99 and has done 34500 miles, only mods are downpipe and SS bbox.
Cheers everyone.

It could easily go on for double your present mileage - so far I am amazed at how mine is standing up, but I also try to be sympathetic and don't do standing starts at all now given the considerable increase in power

Mines done 62000 miles on the original clutch and feels fine (MY98 WRX). The bite's still pretty low down (not sure if it does ever get higher before it fails though) so hopefully there quite a bit of life left in it...

Mines got 75000km on it now, getting very high on the pedal, slips if I miss time a change, so getting ready to change. Thats with City, Highway and a few hard starts as well.
You will feel it bite higher on the pedal as it wears.
