Paul,

(I'm not following you - honest! )

could be coolent sensor not working peoperly, therefore not doing cold start-up routine?
there is a diagnositc PDF on RavenBlazers (??) web site that has all the things to check if it doesnt do the cold start / warm-up map.

cheers
Steve

Last 2 days I have had trouble with the car not idling when I first start in the morning.

After 2 minutes of running there is no problem, and I can use the throttle to make it run at 800rpm nice and smooth.

I am thinking the idle control valve is duff, I'll check for error codes, but is there anything specific that causes this to happen.

Probably just needs cleaning....

I have a similar problem - so kinda ditto comments above + questions...

Q1. Does this only occur when *completely* cold (when temp gauge is off bottom of scale) - ie 1st thing in morning - (but midday - mid-afternoon - OK etc ?) - if so Temp Sensor - top of list.

Q2. Do you hear a clicking (relay-ish) sound - prior to/or at same time as stall / mis-running - misfire etc - if so idle relay (part of throttle position sensor) - top of list.

If all else fails - test plugs and coilpacks - (defnitely a likey candidate for pe My97 +60k miles cars) - good way to test is to "run tall" - 3rd or 4th gear + WOT @ 2k RPM - OK I know this is unrelistic in normal driving circumstances but it should overload & test coils - ie reproduce any ignition spark/coil problems)

Best of luck - let us know how it goes....

Cheers m8,

Chris

[edited to add]

Spent many an hour playing with Idle Control Valve (as this was my first choice but to no avail) - maybe this was just only with regards to my problem - but seemed to make little difference for me.

[Edited to make snse of cr@p I edited added last night ?]

I especially like this....
Be advised that the throttle stop screw adjustment cannot be reset in the field. It is preset by the manufacturer, using equipment that is far more expensive and accurate than the screwdriver that may be used to misadjust it. The only fix for a throttle body where the throttle stop screw has been tampered with is to replace the throttle body unit. That’s a good enough reason to rename the throttle stop screw the Do Not Touch Screw.
Yeah, right, as if1

Pavlo,

and in the Link manual it advises using the throttle stop to set the base idle correctly....

...BTW I have a very expensive adjusting device - it's a Leatherman - cost much more than a normal screwdriver

Hope you fix it.

no luck, haven't had a change to do much.

It did start and idle after the second try this morning though.

when i turn on ignition i can't hear any relays fluttering.

probably clean the idle control valve, thinking that it might get stuck and free up with a little warmth and vibration.
