Choose a good Synthetic oil with a viscosity no lower than 10W-50
is advisable!

I personally use motul competion 15W-50

A fantastic oil!

Castrol RS 10W-60 and mobil one Motorsport 15W-50 are also the
oils of choice for scoobs....

Red face

5W30 IMHO is too thin an oil to run your scoob on, it actually states in the book that this oil is only for certain enviroments and ambient temperatures.
Most people run a 15 rated (or 10 rated) oil due to the fact that its better for a turbocharged engine, but will agree with most that the Motul/castrol/Mobil1 Motorsport are the favourites to put in your scoob

I've jsut had her serviced and I think they've used Motul 10w-40.

I use mobil 1 15-50 every 6000 miles. as it reads in the subaru manual , as for the turbo models, sae 5w-30 is not reommended for sustained high speed driving. Which is most of the time when you drive a scooby.

Cool

I'm with millers motorsport 10W:40 as i felt 5 too thin 15 possible a tad the opposite way & 60 was also a tad OTT for road use but if i was track daying it i may go 4 it. Either way i'm happy with it following a recommendation on here so good luck anyhow chappy

After consideration I let the dealer change my oil at 12500 km's .
They use Mobil 1 5W-40 in their rally cars ! The STI VII maual sais 10W-40 on the high side 5W-30 ideal , ambient considerations not discussed in mymaual .

I can say that with the Mobil 1 5W-40 the car was noticably smoother with turbo response much quicker . I noticed this from vacuum too positive boost for sure . It also overboosted slightly higher . I phoned the dealer to thank him for a job well done and he reconed I knew my car very well as most people didn't notice any difference .

I'm happy , but would have used Motul , next service perhaps .
