You may be able to get to them from the inside.
Pull off of the dust cover to the lower right on the door trim revealing a screw, pull out the two push-bolts on the left and undo the screw on the right. Then lift up the electric window control starting from the side closest to the front of the car (if you pull up from the back then it will break the braket), this should just pop off revealing another screw, undo this and disconnect the loom. The last screw is in the door pull, undo it and rentch out the door pull housing. The door card should now be loose. Go around the bottom of the door card and give it a swift tug (suits you sir!) to pull all the push blots out then tilt up and pull out starting from the side closest to the rear of the car pivioting under the door mirror. This should now come out leaving you with enough room to get at the door handles. When putting the door card back in start with the bit under the mirror and look through the window from the outside to make sure the metal clip is going over the door metal not behind it- you'll see when you do it
This info is only useful if you have a late (MY00) classic model with electric windows, for any more info drop us a mail. Hope some of this helps.
Neil.

**** me this is tricky! I managed it but wouldn't bother again... The difficulty is getting onto the nuts inside the door, to loosen the handles off, and to put them back on.
Please count how many times you drop your spanner!

Dont use a spanner... theres a hole in the inner door skin for putting a socket through...
Really easy...
Remove door trim... undo easy bolt... then you may need to remove (undo) the lock / catch assembly... then put socket and extn bar through the hole and undo the bolt... Would be better using a 3/8th drive or 1/4drive.... but you can use a 1/2" drive rachet like I did... The rod has a plastic clip thing that holds it on that wants uncliping then pushing around... hard to describe... the door handle then just sort of unclips (top and bottom) and then pulls out...
If you cant understand this, drop me a mail and Ill strip my door and take some photos of how to do it as It only takes 5 /10 mins..
