Has anyone heard about some sort of 'Actice Centre Diff System' that Townend Garage are making ??

I have heard that they have come up with a way of 'mapping' the centre diff so you get just the right amount of lock.

Has anyone tried one, and if so, how much are they?

Thanks

I heard it was a module that links into the ecu and a brake position sensor.

it effectively shifts the lock forward of the manual centre diff under heavy braking and heavy acceleration.

dont think it has a steering input sensor, but then I guess you shouldnt be braking or accelerating hard round bends!

Just to let you all know -

I've spoken to Stuart @ Townend Garage today, they have now got available there new version 'Active Diff Controller' Stuart took me up the road in the car that has it fitted (for development he said), and it is awsome ! You can have 3 different 'Maps' stored in it for say Dry, Loose or Wet, as well as flicking a switch to put it all back to manual. It also reacts to braking so you can do handbrake turns !! (As Stuart was more than happy to show me!) I could feel the differance with the system on, it lets you power round corners like you're on rails.

Needless to say, I've ordered one. He says they can fit & map it in a day for £450. I'm sure it will be money well spent, I'm fed up of either having poor traction if you turn it down, or understeer when you turn it up.

I'll let you know when I get it fitted.

Yes - The invisable man was out of the country - I got told that, but he's back now (complete with sun tan) although he did mention that he was going on the Jim Clark rally, so he might have vanished again by now. He is a bit difficult to get hold of, but seems to really know his stuff when you do get hold of him !

Not sure about the other stuff i.e acceleration sensors etc. I'll try to find out (if I can find the invisable man that is !)
