All the Ecutek maps retain the standard fuelling and ignition timing at idle and fast idle. Ecutek cars have already passed MOTs. If you have just a std centre cat you can often scrape through on fast idle if the car is hot. With the original downpipe cat or a good aftermarket sports cat you should not have trouble if they are in good condition.

Power gains - Tek 1 - slighty from AE800/1 (not worth bothering), from AE802 - see Ecutek site. Tek 2 - again see Ecutek site for dyno plots 25 BHP and 30lbft typically. With a Tek 3 you can get rather more

Does anyone have any info regarding the ECUTEK 1 & 2 and how this may affect the MOT emission test. I have a UK MY99 with only K&N panel filter changed at present.
I am having fitted next week a TSL backbox & Mid-section but retaining the downpipe CAT. (To save the hassle of swapping downpipe back at MOT time). I may then look at ECUTEK mod.
I know removing the downpipe CAT liberates approx 15 bhp, but for me I don`t think this is an option.

What I really would like to know is the approximate power gain I can expect from backbox/mid-section mod WITH ECUTEK 1 and the same with ECUTEK2, and the effect upon exhaust emissions.
I have looked through many postings but cannot find anything relating to effects on exhaust emissions for ECUTEK.

Thanks

Graham

John,

Many thanks for that. I think after replacing my exhaust back box/mid section I may go for ECUTEK2 as mail order item from them.
I just needed a bit of a confidence boost regarding the ECUTEK and MOT emissions.

Maybe in the future I will consider changing out the exhaust downpipe and a TEK3 custom map, if i find I need that bit more!

Having a TEK upgrade will make no difference to your car re the MOT than it is now, based on those upgrades. Go for it
