I stand corrected, just had a look with Google.
"Mobil 1 is recommended for use in all types of passenger cars and light duty trucks and vans powered by gasoline or diesel engines. It is particularly recommended for high performance engines, including engines that are turbocharged. It is not recommended for two-stroke or aviation engines unless specifically approved by the builder. Mobil 1 SAE 5W-40 is especially suited for hot-running, high performance cars and heavily loaded vehicles."

i was recommended to use vauxhall 10/40, fully synthetic mobile 1 is said to be too thin as i have heard numerous reports of engines blowing up after service and using this type of engine oil.

The mobil 5w40 is specifically used by Subaru dealers, as the usual 0w40 available in the shops is deemed to be too thin, but also available is mobil 15w50 which is the prefered choice of all the mobil oils if you wasn't going through a dealer.
Unless, of course you do the odd boose cruise and get the 5w50 stuff from France at £18 for 4 litres
