Stuck in 4th !!
#1
Hello all,
On my way back home yesterday night around 23.30H after a weekend trip, I was suddenly unable to disengage 4th! I.e. I could disengage drive with the clutch, but not get lever out of 4th.... Anyone else experienced or heard of this??
Called the mechanic at the Subaru dealers to ask if it was OK to drive home and they said yes, if there were no strange noises or similar, it should be OK. So I did. (Pretty scaring experience though, 4th gear only, and quite a bit of hillclimbs and sharp turns... Not slipping the clutch of course )
Arrived the dealer's at 0100 in the night. One of the salesmen met me, took the car in-house and handed me the keys to a brand spanking new Saab 9-5 Estate... Talk about service.
Called dealer today. They had fixed it. That is, they had managed to knock the lever out of 4th and it is not functioning again
They advised that I should try and see if it happens again. And if so, try to change gear oil. Oh well, I just think it sounds a bit strange that something like this can just suddenly happen.... And that gear oil could affect it? FYG I am now using Motul Gear 300 75w/90. Clutch and flywheel have previously been changed due to the famous judddderrrrrr. New clutch has been juddering for some time again, so could it be that this juddering is harming the gearbox as well?
Any comments/views or similar experiences appreciated.
Regards,
Simen.
