Legacy GT 5EAT 2006 - Stuttering Drive / Engine?
Hi, hoping someone can help with a peculiar gearbox or maybe engine problem on my JDM Legacy GT. It's the EJ20 turbo with 5EAT SI drive (& VDC).
I'm a fair way from an ECU mapper / dyno wizard so hoping to avoid booking it in, getting there, for them to say 'its gearbox, cant do anything'.
2 (non specialist) garages have looked at it and come to different guesses - Gearbox / Engine misfire. Both say no error codes on ECU or Transmission Control Module(?)
Problem occurs when:
1. 'Flooring it' in auto, kicking down 2 gears, at just under 5000 rpm and all the way up.
2. Manual downshifting and medium / hard acceleration from just under 3000 rpm.
It doesn't do it with steady smooth even brisk acceleration, only when being fairly aggressive. It doesn't do it in "I" mode (SI drive) only in S & S#.
Tried with VDC on and off - makes no difference and it doesn't seem any worse in S# than in S mode.
To me it feels like engine choking (air flow or fuel starvation) but I suppose it may be the gearbox 'slipping' or dallying between gear changes. I'd have thought both would give error codes however?
Tried with MAF disconnected and with a spare MAF swapped in - again makes no difference.
Its not UK fuel mapped yet but is run on 99 plus a booster to take it to 100. Will get it properly mapped when I know what the issue is.
Anyone had similar issues please?
Cheers
