Grinding into 2nd (when warmed up...)
Seem to have an issue with my '94 WRX where shifting into second gear makes a brief grinding / crunch noise.
However, it doesn't seem to happen for the first half an hour of driving, it's only after driving for a little while that it starts to happen. I can avoid it if I shift really slowly, but if I shift at normal speed or fast or do it whilst revving high it crunches/grinds.
It seems to be an 'inside' noise, as in it isn't like when you grind gears and it's really loud outside the car it's only right there at the gear stick (I think)...
I currently believe it's worn synchros as that's the obvious thing, but just trying to clear up any other potentials...
Help would be very much appreciated!

What oil are you using?
Gear change improvements have been seen from using
Castrol Syntrax 75W-90
or
RED LINE LightWeight ShockProof 75W-90
A mixture of Motul and Red line has also been tried in the past with good results....

I’ve only picked the car up recently so it’s very likely still running the same oil it came over from Japan with….
Will pick some of this up and try it out - hopefully it’ll smooth out the issue!
