Rear wheel hub question

Rear wheel hub question
I've been meaning to do a rear bearing on my MY00 Forester for ages. I've done one side, a long time ago. Removed the hub and pressed in a new one. But this time round I got a slide hammer and bearing pressing kit so I can do it on the car, as that is apparently the Subaru recommended way now. Got all the bearings, even got myself a new flange as I think I've let the grinding noise go on too long. But I'm worried I might have done some damage to the hub carrier now. So don't really want to pull the hub off to find that's fubared, Could that happen?
Also, I'm thinking about just sourcing a used complete hub from a newer Impreza, opposedforces.com lists them as an alternative. I currently have Newage rear 2pots on my Forester, using the mounting brackets. If I went with a Newage hub, I could get rid of the brackets and have the 2 pots mounted correctly. I did replace the long lateral link bolts a few years ago when I put a new subframe in. so hopefully they won't be too hard to remove. Also, do newer model hubs have bolt in wheel bearings? As that would be a better/easier option long term.

Thanks Dave. I saw your post. I'm OK getting it off. But I was also asking about rear hub alternatives. I hear some newer ones are bolt in wheel bearings, and also have bolt in wheel bearings. That and the chance to mount my 2 pots without an adapter would be good.
