I have an MY01 and a friend and me fitted the downpipe. You're correct, you do have to modify the turbo heatshield.I cut mine using Tin snips and offered it up to the car and re-trimmed until it fitted correctly.Make sure you don't take more than you have to off it though! (Scoobysport recommend you cut it so it is the norm and don't worry!)
Good luck!

Did you retain the bottom heatshield r will this not fit back on. As far as I could see, when you cut the top heatshield you loose at least one of the mounting points for the lower heatshield. I haven't fitted my downpipe yet so the advise would be useful.

Ed,
I think on the MY01 (Not sure which model you have???),the lower heatshield forms part of the OEM downpipe so it can go.All I have on mine now is the turbo heatshield!
Hope this helps a little?
