I've got a 05 Widetrack JDM STI and have went with the following

MILLERS OILS CFS 10W-50 COMPETITION FULL SYNTHETIC ENGINE OIL (Mine is seeing track use, for road use I believe 5w40 is best).

MILLERS OILS CRX 75W-90 NT COMPETITION FULL SYNTHETIC TRANSMISSION OIL - 5L

MILLERS OILS CRX LS 75W-90 NT COMPETITION FULL SYNTHETIC TRANSMISSION OIL (For LSD Rear Diff)

If it's standard or close to standard, I'd use a 5w-40 in the engine.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS/CFS NT, Motul Sport/300V, Red Line and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XF Longlife, Fuchs GT1 XTL/Supersyn, Gulf Formula G/ULE, Shell Helix and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives.

The DCCD boxes are fussy, the best results are with the Motul Gear 300

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-899-motu...-diff-oil.aspx

The best option for the diff is a synthetic 75w-90, like the Silkolene Syn 5, Millers CRX NT LS, Motul Gear 300LS, Red Line 75w-90 GL5 or Gulf Competition LS. A SAE90 or 80w-90 mineral oil such as Motul 90PA, Fuchs Race Gear 90LS or Gulf Gear LS 80w-90 is a good, cheaper alternative.

You get 10% off the website prices with the code SCOOBY

Cheers

Dont use a 5w40 ive been running imprezas for 15 years and they dont like it too much it too thin at start up and become rattly.
10w40 for standard or lightly modded and 10w50 for track use or heavily modded.

Dont use 10w60 either ive ran millers cfs 10w50 in my 480bhp car for years and its quite happy on it.

I get why you are using a 10w-50 in a 480bhp car, but Subaru recommend 5w oils in their standard cars, are they wrong?

Cheers

Doubt very much they are wrong but fine in a brand new car and want a tiny bit more mpg but id not be using it in ones with 70k+ miles but thats my opinion as found it too thin at start up

Is yours a forged build? They often want a 10w oil as they can be a bit rattly on start up with something thinner.

Nope standard jdm twinscroll ive had 10 impreza not one of them liked a 5 weight oil
The jdm engine tends to be a bit slacker on tolerances.

Fair enough, if it does rattle when cold, a 10w does make sense, but there shouldn't be an issue with a 5w in terms of protection.

Cheers

Hi

In that case, you won't need anything as thick as a 50, so if it was me, I'd probably go for a 5w-40 to get the best cold start protection, or go for a 10w-40 if you think it's rattly when cold.

Cheers
