Tick over problems

On my MY98 STi4, most of the time when I stop, say for a roundabout, the revs drop to nearly a stall. Then after a couple of seconds they start to pick up again. Turning into my driveway today, the car stalled when this happened (For the first time). Usually just blipping the throttle cures it but I was wondering what casued it and how to stop it?? Any ideas folks?? The car is standrad apart from a K&N cone filter and a Mines exhaust system (No downpipe).

It sounds like the idle speed control valve, which on an MY97 is adjacent to the throttle valve pot. This valve bypasses the closed throttle and maintains some air flow to achieve idle, and as such is unused as soon as the throttle is opened slightly - hence why it seems ok when the throttle is pressed.
Remove the valve and clean thoroughly (also check wiring and plug for damage)
Hope this helps,
Lee S.

I thought it might be the MAF, the car is still under warrenty (I got 1 years when I bought it), do you think I could have the MAF replaced under warrenty???? The K&N was on the car when I bought it so it shouldnt affect the warrenty as the garage knew about it. Cheers for you help folks
