Hi all my rear diff has gone and I'm looking for a replacement to fit my import 6 speed box, does anyone know if the 3.9 ratio rear diff, non lsd R160 will work ?

As Banny says. You'd be mad to go to an R160 in a car desugned for an R180 That is a wrong choice.
The R180's could be 4.4 ratio from a Vers 4/5/6 type R GC8.
The New age ones have a temperature sensor on the rear cover, that is the easy way to tell.
If there is ANY doubt, pull the back cover and count the teeth. If you fit the wrong diff you'll wreck the centre diff in no time at all.
3.9 should be 39 ring teeth to 10 on the pinion. 3.545 is also 39 on the ring BUT 11 on the pinion. Make sure you count both.....
