Default Clutch Advice

Hi

Noticed revs starting to surge without power increase as the boost kicks in on my 2004 wrx impreza, then it grips and I can feel the power so im taking it that the clutch needs replacing.

Going to do the job myself as ive changed a few clutchs on my tod so shouldn't be too bad. Does anyone know the correct size of the pressure plate/cover diameter? Euro car parts seems to have 225 and 230, although the clutch plate diameters all seem to be 225? Also Is it a must that the flywheel be ground? In the past if they are in good condition I have left them and just changed the clutch components.

Thanks

Sounds like typical clutch slip when clutch is knackered.

230mm is the correct size for your model, here in stock at prices better than Euro Car Parts: http://www.superhids.co.uk/clutches-...r-fjk2022.html

You will need to inspect the flywheel to see if there are high spots on it, the Imprezas are notoriously fussy and will judder at even the slightest high spot.

A lot of people take the opportunity to do away with the heavy standard flywheel and replace with a lightweight forged one at less than half the weight, this instantly improves throttle response and acceleration. One of the best things I ever did to my Impreza. If you buy it all together you won't have to mess around with taking the flywheel off, sending it to be machined, wait etc while car is in bits.

Hope that helps
