People of scoobynet......
can anyone put in the missing sections on here so that i can fit my new clutch with peace of mind
For a start, this is only a basic view of what i am going to do..
Remove i/c and anything in the way on top...
Drain gearbox oil
remove prop/ drive shafts ( not sure how they disconnect from g/box??)
remove gearstick assembly
remove speedo cable
remove clutch arm??
I have been shown that i need to remove a bung and thread a bolt into the gearbox and pull out the shaft that the arm/release bearing is held on by (what size bolt is needed to pull out the shaft (release arm))
remove exhaust
support gearbox with jack
remove cross members holding g/box
support engine with a/stands
unbolt four bellhousing to engine bolts
remove g/box
remove clutch

refit??

this is what i know so far..
Any help/advise for missing/incorrect info will be much appreciated.

before i get any flames, i have fitted a large number of clutches before but have no manual/subaru experience....

i am going to fit the clutch over the bank holiday weekend, so i have a couple of days to gather info...
Thanks for any help or advice
Rob

Sounds correct...

Remove prop... If unbolting it I would mark both faces with tippex or similar so they go back in the same place... (unsure how its balanced....)

You dont need to remove gear stick... just unbolt linkage under car...

No speedo cable.. Just unplug the connectors...

Fairly sure the bolt is 10mm or 11mm to remove the rod..

I did mine without removing the intercooler but it may be easier..

Remove starter motor...

Driveshafts pull off by driving out a pin that is in the end of them... wipe the end clean with a rag and then knock it out with a suitable drift / punch / chisel / screwdriver...

Edited to add "Refitting is the reverse of removal"

Probably missed something...

Thanks for the reply dave, i have had a brief look under the car and cant see how the prop disconnects from the g/box, also do the drive shafts just pop out of the g/box (cant understand the pins part)
many thanks

the drive shafts are different to conventional driveshafts... there are splines sticking out of the box... erm I cant think how to explain this..

if you look at the end of the driveshaft you have a round hole with grooves (splines) inside it.. and on the gearbox there is a little stub sticking out with splines on it.. the prop slides out the same way... Undo the 11mm bolts and then drop down and pull towards the back of the car..

The pins are through the centre of the shaft... they need knocking out...they stop the shafts from sliding off.. cant think how to expain really...

you may also need to split the lower arm ball joint so you can swing the strut out of the way with the drive shaft hub nut still tight....
