Simtek to Solaris
Just had my simtek ecu swopped for the solaris and WHAT A DIFFERENCE,Simon (JGM) mapped it and Charlie of Surrey rolling road supplied it and rollin roaded it.What can i say the car was instantly smoother even on the start up map,The fuelling was better as the car made more power and torque with a safer map than the previous simtech could ever get.The list of features is endless with lots more in the pipeline as well. The car drives so much better the power delivery is far smoother its just a pleasure to drive and quicker to boot.
So a big thank you to Simon of www.jollygreenmonster.co.uk and Charlie of www.surreyrollingroad.co.uk and www.solaris-ecs.co.uk
If your going for a aftermarket ecu make sure there the first you call you wont be dissapointed believe me.

Impressive, must be a damn good ECU to produce a noticeable difference in drive-ability over the Simtek, which is already a big step up from an Ecutek remap!
Glad you're enjoying it!

as above really, whats a realistic price on a solaris ecu + mapping? Are they plug + play units like an apexi pfc or is it a board like a simtec?
and, would you say its worth the cash OVER a simtec? they are like £1500 arnt they?

Yes I am a solaris dealer, as well as simtek etc.
They now do plug and play boards for all classics, it replaces oe board in standard case.
Both the simtek and solaris are v capable ecus.
Robs car should have worked better than it did on the simtek to be fair but the car getting more and more racing and now part of ten of the best 22b subaru team and with Rob chasing faster machinery in hill climbing and him not used to coming second, it seemed the right move if only for knock control and datalogging.
Rob can download a datalog and email it to me for analysis etc.
They are 1500+vat fitted and mapped, will be adding to website when I get time.
Run a car 620bhp on a simtek with no issues but Robs car was nice and ackward and only 533bhp.

Welcome Rob to the "Solaris" club! I was the first new age in the UK to have one fitted last year in Aug and have had no probs since then. Scoob has run perfect - Pat installed and mapped it and Charlie loved driving it!!
Pat needs to give me the latest version as mine is outdated - hopefully this will be sorted when he remaps her in 3 weeks time.
I take it you've gone for a calibration switch?
Now just tell Phil (tingtong) to get one!
JP
PS: To those wishing to find out more you can also speak to Mark at Lateral Performace:

8 position switch so you can have 8 different map combinations..
the ecu has 4 of most map in it so you can run different fuel and ignition maps and boost maps etc.. along with launch and antilag whcih can be on separate switches or on the cal switch..
ie. vpower map
vpower with als on
10% meth map low boost
10% meth high boost
etc..

this sounds like its kinda worth saving for.
are they alright to run with an AVCR? iv got one and wouldnt mind keeping it as it gives me a user interface to alter boost..something i cant do on the ecu as i arnt a mapper! or should i sell the avcr and just use what comes with the ecu?

Banny - apart from what Simon said re the use of the calibration switch this is what I have currently set on mine:
Notch One - 1.1 bar using V-Power
Notch Two - 1.3 bar using V-Power
Notch Three - 1.5 bar using V-Power
Notch Four - 1.7 bar using V-Power.
Notch Eight - Using non V-Power fuel - set at 1 bar.
The switch is very useful when you can go from 1.1 to 1.7 in a matter of a second or so!
I have separate swtiches for the ALS and Launch Control.
