Couldn't agree more - bought a used MY99 mid last year. Very friendly & helpful during the sale but will never go back having experienced the after sales.
Now goto CCV in Witney instead - so much better.

Oi, I have had more fecking problems with other subaru dealers in the area than Lancasters, they are not the cheapest but I have never had any problems with them at all unlike a dealer not to far away that said a service would cost this much all in and then charged double for the service.

Dunno if it's all bad though.
Bought a used MY99 from them last year and their after sales hasn't been tooo bad although their servicing costs are a little on the pricey side. They picked up my car from work (15 miles from garage) and delivered it back free of charge - all on the same day.

I would just like to say that contrary to a couple of the opinions on this page I have had nothing but excellent service from Lancaster Pangbourne. They always collect my car and clean it for me free of charge at every service. The people are always particularly friendly in Aftersales especially Diane and Conrad-nothing is too much trouble. Thanks guys.

agree with maaaalibu, had a couple of teething problems with my new car.
they sent a driver out, who picked the car up , got it sorted and brought it back , no charge.
in the end it was my fault for playing around with the alarm system.
all now sorted.
well done conrad , i feel like a right idiot!!!!

Got to agree - Conrad and Diane are on the ball whenever I've dealt with them.
OK, Lancaster may be expensive when you first ask a price for a service etc., but if you have a bit of banter with them and don't bullsh1t they'll meet or beat any genuine price you've been given elsewhere (within a reasonable distance) - at least that's always been my experience.
I'm not in any way connected with them, except for buying my DGM MY98 there (from Vaughan King, he that was mentioned in the first post - where's the discount on my new STi 7 now Vaughan? ).
Cheers,
Steve

I'd just like to say that I bought a W reg 2litre turbo in December from Lancaster, and couldn't fault them at all! They knew the car was coming in but hadn't actually seen it...I wanted to buy it assuming it was in good con. It was, and they did their best to get the car in and ready for me ASAP. As for aftersales service, again, I couldn't fault it. Everyone is very friendly, and it seems as if nothing is too much trouble for them.
As for Mr King, well, he's great, although he's usually known as Vaughan...strange that someone should call him Mr King...who could that have been then?!
Naturally, I expect a 50% discount from the guys now that I have said such nice things about them!!

Well, here's a less positive experience. About a year ago Vaughan King rang me to say he had a used wagon meeting my requirements coming in. He wanted me to give a £1000 refundable deposit on my credit card to give me first refusal. I thought this rather odd practice (does anywhere else do this ?) but went along with it.
My wife and I test drove the car, liked it but could not agree on the price. End of story - or so we thought. I assumed my credit card would be re-credited without delay. When I received my next statement I discovered this had not been done. It then took several phone calls to sort the matter out. I couldn't at that point pay the credit card bill in full and so incurred interest charges of approx. £50. Certainly the most expensive test drive I've ever had !
This experience may be a one-off but it certainly left a bad taste at the time.
Now, as a new Scoob owner contemplating his first service I'm prepared to give them a try as they're local, but they'd better be good...

Just been looking at other comments on servicing - yes Lancaster are a bit more expensive, but at least I trust them! Before I bought my suby, I went to SGT for a nosey, and they gave me so much bull**** and outright lies that even though they are slightly cheaper on servicing, I wouldn't touch them with a barge, let alone a barge pole! I found Lancaster to be massively expensive, and also recommended that I replace about 50% of all the items on my car. I took second opinions from 2 other main Scooby dealers who told me it was absolute rubbish and promptly serviced the car for 2/3 of the price.
I felt annoyed and pi55ed off with Lancaster as they do all of this with a smile on their faces.

It seems to me that opinions on after-sales are divided, after discounting posts from dubious sources. I'll give them a shot for my first service as they are much the closest, and see what happens. Let's keep this thread alive with all positive and negative experiences.
PS: it would be nice if employees of Lancaster Pangbourne could participate here in an open and constructive way. Over to you guys & gals !

Work local to them, get my car service in witney.
£50 diferance for the same service.
If there prices were the same i would go to them.
come on Lancaster Pangbourne give us a price promise. Do not ask over the odds for the same service.
I you would do this then u would have more after service.

bought my car from them, very nice.
had a few services from them OK service,
then had litre bottles of oil left in the car which took me a week to find but had been put on the bill and I had not asked for it. Dont check the bill till I had paid as you pay over the phone before they deliver it back.
really ticked me off.
couple of mis bookings for service, could have been my fault but I dont really think so.
now use Mill Lane in Basingstoke who have given good service and clean the car like Ive never known.
