Just back from a visit to Andy Forrest, and i would like to thank him for the work and time he spent on my car today.It has totally changed the car and im loving it,hopefully i will get away with the pops and bangs as we had two close calls with the police on the way back.But i did say to him i would like it to pop and bang so thats what he did. It sounds like a rally car on the motorway it will do it constanly so im going to try and get used to the driving style by diping the clutch when your on the overrun if i dont want it to go off like a bomb.Sorry Andy for phoning you back about it so soon after leaving, but it seems to have been not to bad tonight. yep a wee bit of over fueling only on the over run, but i mean this is loud!!! hopfully i will get away with it as i had two close calls on the motoryway with the cops on the way home, but i did ask for a few pops and bangs to be includded in the deal

Yes, it's not a necessary part of having the cat decatted, or putting a sports cat on. The pops and bangs are mapped in deliberately at the request of the customer; some people like em.
Mine will pop a bit (not loudly) on the over-run in second.

None mate! It doesn't need them! I find UK suspension set up to be well resolved for UK roads. You'll frequently read on here people saying you simply must have this brake set up/suspension set up to cope with extra power. I don't agree, especially for road use!
That's certainly not to say it wouldn't be improved by them. I'm planing front and rear ARBs and a good geometery set up when the pennies permit.

Anti-lag is terribly bad for your turbocharger, exhaust manifold and exhaust system in general: the exhaust gas is significantly warmer (technically, still burning) as it is going through the turbo. The system will usually have an off switch. Cars fitted with the system need frequent check-ups on the turbos and exhaust systems.

I had it on my Tommi Mak for over 6 months and no problems at all, mine was a switchable one not a fully blown WRC style ant-lag, but awesome pops & bangs and flames...

I have Prodrive springs with Prodrive geometry and Whiteline ARB/Droplinks and thoroughly recommend them. Having said that, although they "turn in" nicely enough, Newage WRXs are a bit wobbly as std ! Feels very sharp in current guise.

Its not Anti-lag and its not overfueling so no potential for damage, other than pedestrians perforated ear drums 
The only downside is the novelty will wear off and it isn't switchable. Well, not on UK cars anyway, JDM Sti is a different story

There is a subtle difference between unburned fuel and overfueling.
Its not overfueling so there no risk of borewash. The timing is retarded 'to a degree' Ignition still takes place but so late in the cycle that some air/fuel mix gets to the hot exhaust before it has completed the burn. This is just whilst on very high vacuum closed throttle overrun and in a particular rpm band, as soon as you touch the throttle or dip the clutch the engine responds as normal.

I remember when Andy mapped mine for pops and bangs and flames really pi$$ed off a transit driver when we overtook him slowed to a snails pace them nailed him leaving him in a trail of pops,bangs and flames.I think i remember him giving me a Gareth Hunt wave

Unburnt fuel is reaching the inside of the exhaust ..... thats fuel that was not required by the engine to get the desired power ..... thats overfueling.

I didn't expect everyone would understand
The pop and bang is in fact the final stage of combustion....... so there is no overfueling, no unburned fuel.
It is infact a misconception that you overfuel a car to get it to pop and bang, proper anti lag overfuels in order to reduce the intense heat caused by full-on anti lag. (not to get pops and bangs )
You should be aware of this Pete, take an older carb type car and pull the choke on to make it overfuel...... no pops and bangs, it just kills the power.
Start to run out of fuel however (lean running) and it will pop and bang.
