Default Bob Rawle map tomorrow. Cant Wait

I have a Classic Impreza 2000 turbo PPP with 30k miles. I have just finished installing a Blitz nur spec R exhaust, H & S downpipe with fast flow CAT, Green group N pannel filter, an IHI VF34 turbo, Aps TMIC and BOV, a Fuelab regulator and Walbro fuel pump.

Really cant wait until tomorrow when Bob Rawle is set to Tek3.

The advise i need is regarding gearbox and clutch. I am making enquiries about six speed boxes, how easy is this conversion to do myself, I believe i need the new gearbox assembly with prop and rear diff, but need the shorter STI5 drive shafts. Is this correct.
What clutch shoud I use and would it be one to suit the new box or existing engine or are they interchangeable. AP, Exedy or Carbonetic.

Where would be the best place to source parts, I live in the london, Surrey boarders.

Many thanks in advance

Rob

I wouldn't worry about your gearbox, i have a very similar specced car to yours uk my99 sti8 top mount, vf34 turbo, scooby sport sports cat downpipe and hks exhaust etc etc, and a remap with Bob. I got 333bhp.
Have been driving round with the standard gear box now for nearly 4 months without any problems (plus your car is low mileage which helps).

Speak to Bob about it tomorrow.

When he remapped mine he assured me the gearbox would be fine at the level he tuned the car to, although i was sceptical at the time his advice was spot on and of course saved me a small fortune.

Would be interesting to know how you get on tomorrow.

Hello People,

Bob is just brilliant at what he does, very helpfull and very interesting. I had a great day out purely because of what i had learnt. Bob made significant progress with the cars fueling etc, but we were hindered when the clutch decided to give up. On boost the torque was just too much for the clutch to hold on.
Now i have ordered an Exedy clutch and flywheel from Mark at Lateral performance, another very helpfull guy. And I'm in the process of deciding which gearbox to use from David @ API.

Back up to BR shortly for him to finish his magic, I will keep you all informed of the progress.

Thanks for your advice.

Many thanks to Bob for a great day

Did you have the Prodrive ECU re-mapped? I'm asking because I heard it was better to swap it for a standard ECU and cash.
thanks

The standard ECU is flashed by prodrive, when remapped the Tek3 will overwrite the Prodrive settings if you get my drift. The Standard ECU is not replaced with the PPP, it is simply mapped with different settings

Well people,
going to drop my machine up to API today, having a Jap spec 6 speed sti box put in. There going to fit my PPG lightweight flywheel and Exedy clutch whilst there at it so should save me some messing about.
Hopefully I will like the ratios of the jap spec box. Its costing me a small fortune but at least i'll have peice of mind.
Will have to start on my internals next
Good day to everyone.

When mine was rr at the scoobyclinic, i asked andy bout the gearbox. Told me not to worry untill i was getting to 370 and its the torque that would kill it.

As he recomends not going over 330 bhp on my99 standard internals im not worrying bout a box.

My box lasted 3 weeks on my My99 after changing the turbo and having it remapped, It pushes out around 330BHp and 320lbs.

I had a recon newage one off API and thats lasted over a year now, but I take it easy in 3rd.

Default Results

Ok people, for those of you that maybe interested, the car is now finished, well for now.
Decided to go for the jap spec 6 speed in the end, PPG lightened fly and exedy racing organic clutch.
Bob finished the mapping last week and here are the results.
Torque is down apparently due to the nature of the APS bov which I maybe swayed to change at somepoint soon.

Sector times were …

30-50 2.2s
40-60 1.9 s

Gear 4

338bhp. 322 ft lbs
Fuel V Power
Allowing 22% transmission loss
Air temp 21 deg C
