i've booked myself in for a 7500 miles service this monday. but when i called the dealer today to confirm, they said that they've booked me in for a 15000 miles service. their reason being they go by time period and not mileage. even so, i've only owned the car for about 15 months.
do you guys reckon this is standard practice?

Fraid so. Your warranty depends on 3 main factors.
1. Not mucking around(too much) with mods
2. Keeping to authorised dealers
3. Keeping to servcing schedules, both milage or time.
Some of the fluids in the car go stale after time, and need replacement after 12 months. Therefore it's a good idea to keep to the service intervals.
The garage is'nt trying to swindle you, it's doing the right thing in order for you to keep your warranty.
