Default TSL Triple 3 conversion to 333BHP

Anyone had this done?

Rather than buying an STI PPP would anyone recommend buying a standard STI and just having the TSL conversion done to 333BHP?

Well, are 33 horses worth 3 years warrantee? I think not. On the other hand, if you have a JDM model, then yes, I'd go for the TSL.

That's a very simplistic view!! You get way more than just "33 horses" for your money. How about much better torque with a much wider spread, area under the graph and all that, throttle response etc. etc.

Besides, that is assuming you have a warranty to worry about in the first place.

I would say, yes, if you go into it with your eyes open and understand what you are getting, and what the risks are....

Well, mine goes in this week to get done, I've kept the PPP exhaust and fuel pump (you can get them on eBay very cheap) and with the TSL remap should give me around 333 bhp and won't be detectable by the dealer

Not possible unless you want to keep re-mapping your car everytime it goes to the main dealer and that will cost a liitle.

Main dealers cannot enter the map once its been done.

But unless I have a problem or CEL they won't need to anyway.

I even thought of getting an ECU from a scrapyard and fitting that when it needs servicing :-)

I'm paying less than £1k for 330+ bhp as against £2k for 300 bhp.

I would think a used ECU isn't going mto break the bank.

Thumbs up

I had the 333 conversion done to a WRX. not STi, by TSL and would highly recommend it! They look after the car and you and have a very good attitude about it all. I get 280bhp out of mine now and as it was from Motorpoint, warrranty wasn't an issue. Liverpool Victoria happy with mods too.

Do you really think that you'll get away with this forever? modding you're car and then putting it back to standard for servicing etc.

What happens when you're car breaks down and has to be taken to a dealer via Subaru Assist? - I know what happens, you can kiss you *** goodbye to the rest of its warranty, and then say bye bye to some of your own money to repair it.

Has anyone ever actually claimed on a subaru warrantee? I've had 3 sti's in 4 years, covered 75,000 miles between them and never had reason to make a claim. I'm soo convinced they're bomb proof [sti 7 & 8 anyway] that I wouldn't buy a UK one again and hence I'm now driving a JDM.

I'm not the slightest bit worried

And after having the conversion done I think that it's the best £580 I ever spent

The dealer can tell if it has been remapped, if they have the tools (which I think many of them don't). If they suspect it has been modified, it's not that difficult for them to find out!!

On the CEL front, regardless of the map, the dealer can get the Select Monitor codes. Bear in mind, if you have a 333, you probably have other components other than the map that the dealer can probably easily spot which will invalidate the warantee (like a decat exhaust for example).
