Legal Advice required.......................................... ...................
Folks
I need legal advice regarding my alloys wheels.
I took them to an "Alloy Wheel Specialist" to get them refurbished/polished/diamond cut as they were a bit shabby and needed a refurb. The guy I spoke to said, "No problem, it'll take 3 days." I was actually quite impressed with that so I left my alloys with him. So far, so good.
It then started to turn bad when w he wanted £200 up front before taking the alloys in. I argued that I can't pay someone for something they haven't done yet so it came to a compromise that i gave him £100 and then another £100 when it's completed. So that was agreed and I got a receipt for my £100 and the alloys.
That was about 1 month ago now and I still haven't got my alloys back. He kept saying that he's got problems getting them to "shine" and turn out the way I wanted them to. He then started saying that it'll be "next a couple of days". That's about 3 or 4 "couple of days" I've heard from him. He even said he'll phone me backwhich he never has.
I've had enough and want my alloys back, no matter what condition they are in. How do I go about it? What legal rights do I have? What about the initial £100?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

nyscooby, and the Police will say "It's a civil dispute and we're not a debt collecting agency "
Gordon, as has already been pointed out, the CAB is a very good place to start. Doesn't cost you a dime. Perhaps you can write to the guy informing him that you want the wheels and your deposit returned within 7 days otherwise you will instruct baliffs to enter his premises, remove your wheels and items to the value of the 100.00 deposit at HIS cost. This might give him a kick up the ****. I appreciate it is a big sledgehammer to crack the nut.
If you get the wheels back, but not the money, you can always chase it up in the small claims court, which again doesn't cost you anything.
Hope this helps
BTW, I know where you can get your hands on a nice set of P1 wheels
Terzo mileage is now 39,650
