New Exhaust From TSL

New Exhaust From TSL
Will be spending a bag full of hard earned money on a competion exhaust for the STI7 in a couple of weeks. According to Graham at TSL it's the nuts - Only just released (not on website yet) it is a 72mm diameter competion unit with a high flow CAT and as straight as a drain pipe. Apparantly is has only just been "production-ised" and they have only fitted 5 to date.
I'll need another remap afterwards (even after having the TSL333 last year) oh well can't wait.
Anyone here tried one ?

Graham is a damned good salesman .....He slated my Trust extreme full de-cat when Richard Bulmer re-mapped my car last year. He was determined to talk me into his thunderstorm or what ever it was called at the time. Didn't bother kept what I had and the car gives good BHP........dont believe everything he tells you

Don't disagree he;s a slick salesman, but I did actively go in search of something better that the stock STI exhaust & Prodrive backbox.
Thats why i'm trying to find someone who tried this new exhaust

there all pretty much the same, your not going to get any half decent gains from switching to one modded system to another IMO, just buy the one that you like best
standerd to a modded system will give good gains
modded system to modded system isnt worth bothering with
"ooooooooooooooooooooooo i got an extra 1.5bhp and 1lbft by fiting a hyper-extension-gargle-muffler system from ACME goods"
see where im coming from?

devils advocate. His would be the best, he's selling it !!!
Have a look around b4 u buy. Why do u need a remap, are you going from catted to this? Worth a call to BRD, speak to Branko about exhaust systems & remap as he is v good and gives an honest (& blunt ) answer.

Trust Stiman - seeing as you haven`t got mega power, can i politely say "why bother?" (dont talk that in a bad way please)
there`s an HKS Hiper for a bug-eye on e-bay at the moment, that would do nicely, and it`ll most probably be cheaper than the new system.
just a thought

Hi Guys.
just a quick note to say thanks to Daz for the post, and Im glad everything was what you wanted...
With regards to our new reverse pulse extraction exhaust system, I feel its not fair to make any claims here as to the virtue or extra benefit from fitting it. I think it would be better for the guys who have it fitted to let everyone know what they think (good or bad)...
TrueSTi, we all look forward to seeing you here in a couple of weeks, and if anyone wants to see the system we will be showing it off at the autosports show next week.
Cheers.

I have spent a lot of money at TSL over the years and have always been pleased with their service.
I do agree though that Graham is very quick to slate the competitions products whilst singing the praises of his own.
I remember when I went to the Ecutek launch at Power Engineering (I had the basic Tek1 tweak done to mine whilst I was there). When I visited TSL a month or two later for some brakes Graham was totally damning of Ecutek, claiming you couldn't re-programme the ECU and it was a simple boost clamp that would blow my car up.
His opinion obviously changed. . . . . . .

... so is their Triple 333 upgrade going to incorporate the new exhaust or stay with the Thundercat system?
Must ring them as I want the Triple on my sti v7 in February.

I've spoken to Gavin and I'm going to look at the new exhaust system in question, tomorrow.
I'm very interested, as it is a 76mm [3 inch] Sports Cat system whereas their Thundercat is a 2.5 inch Sports Cat system. I've been quoted £2200 all in for the Triple 3 with the new exhaust which is only £100 more than the same upgrade with the traditional ThunderCat system.
My JDM sti v7 is booked in on Feb 21st for the triple 3 treatment and I'm sure I'll be going for the new exhaust system as the gains are higher and I'm told it isn't a loud exhaust which is exactly what I'm looking for.
As my JDM has more robust internals than the UK equivilent, I'm expecting at least 340 lb/ft of torque as a safe minimum, also with an increase in the range of torque.
