Holdcroft of Newcastle under Lyme
Just been to Holdcrofts of Newcastle Under Lyme, and although I was only spending a mere £85 for a MAF sensor, I must say what a really unhelpful chap "Mark" is....
I have a squeaking noise coming from the rear of my car, which although is very annoying I'm sure it isn't anything to worry about. I got to drive back to Bristol tomorrow, and just wanted them to have a quick look over it, to make sure it's safe to drive......"Oh no we are far to busy to have a look, I can book you in though?" he said, he didn't even offer to look later, or give me a ring when a "parts fitter" became available....This sort of attitude gets on my ****!!!!! What was wrong with him suggesting leaving the car, and if they have the time, they'd have a look over it....
Well I'll never bother going to that dealer again!!!!! Just as well Tileys of Bristol has the total opposite attitude to customers
{Rant over}
Thanks for nothing Holdcroft, you batty boys. Phill

Strange, I've never had any problems with Mark sorting out issues with my car as and when needed, normally have to pop back when one of the lads has five minutes or something, but generally they seem more than happy to help.

And they didn't charge me a penny......Now that's customer service for you!!

PS The comment about them being helpful. Perhaps they favour the new shapes and not the classics, but I know I'll never spend a single penny at that dealers

Phill, think they must be having an off day - Mark usually pretty good....
Don't go there anymore for services, due to all 5 studs being cross-threaded on one wheel (!) once, but don't have any issue at all with Parts. -
Dave (overall manager) is a helpful chap too - think he'd be concerned with your experience...
Rich - Don't think Newbury A34 is quite close enough

I used NUL Holdcroft for my first service a few weeks back (car originally from Motorpoint) and have no complaints. No problem with the car being a parallel import or with the fact the log book was still on its way from Malta - they said they'd stamp it up next time. Also did me a nice discount on their last set of WRX mats just because they were out of the packaging.
I did ask them to look at the transmission fluid level which I think they missed because it's still at the min mark but other than that couldn't fault the service they provided.
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I did plenty of searching through the forums for a North West dealer before I went there and almost all the other posts seemed to point to choosing them. I guess they were just too busy.

I can't believe the comments about Mark being unhelpful.
The whole dealership and Mark in particular have always been very helpful and efficient, whatever the problem.
Mark has always been willing to look at a problem if he or someone else is free to look at it! otherwise he asks you to come back later.
I can only assume that you arrived at a very busy time when he was short staffed.
Compared to any other dealer (for any make of car) I find them one of the friendliest dealers in the area. Try going to Knights BMW with a similar request!!!!
And yes I've got a 02 Sti, but this is my third scooby and Holdcrofts (Mark again) dealt with my previous classic wagon in the same friendly manner, unlike Speeds Fenton when they were the local dealer, where you had to fight for every bit of warranty work.
I felt I had to post as it would be a shame to see a good dealer unfairly tarnished, by 1 experience.
Sorry you had this experience, but don't assume it is normal for Mark or Holdcrofts.

All I can say is maybe he was having a bad day, or didn't like my appearence (bold head and no doubt frowning) / west country accent?? I've had a scooby now for 4 1/2 years and can honestly say all the dealers I called into / used before have been more than helpful.....
As I said 2 guys outside having a ***, so they couldn't have been that busy.
Anyway, it fixed now and took Tileys (of Bristol) about 5 minutes to fix, using a can of silicon spray / WD40.... Oh and they didn't charge me either
I was concerned with the noise, as I had to travel back to Bristol to pick my kids up for the weekend and take them in the car.....
