Default Engine coolant questions

Right, apparently there are 2 colours of engine coolant, red and blue.. Can they be mixed at all?

If not, where can I get hold of red stuff, cos Halfords only have blue?

Hmmm... then you would get purple coolant.

Don't like the sound of that!!!!

Some antifreeze have different properties for alloy blocks etc, I wouldn't recommend mixing............
