My car is due one of the nasty massive services and I was wondering what the likely cost will be (ball-park)
By massive I mean: fluids (all of them!), timing belts, etc as per 90k service in the book.
MY99 UK btw

It's a 60K (major) service + a cambelt (IIRC).
With us that would be £293.57 + the cambelt which is 2 hours labour and the cost of the belt (£90.00 on early cars, £108 on later cars). All prices + VAT.
We use decent oil as well, (Motul 300V).

Thanks Adam for that.
I would just like to point out the fact you might want to be carefull when using NON maindealer SPECIALISTS (like myself). Always try to find out what service schedule they use, as a lot use there own schedule, if you have had M/Dealer servicing scheduling up to now, to change to SOME independants although they are much cheaper on face value they jumble up the items changed / checked on the services. So levelling the costs of services but things get changed at incorrect intervals.
Strange that I included myself in that, but I stick to M/D schedules as trained by Subaru.

I hope that made sense, if not ring me on 07771.636609

Len is correct, we've seen that as well.
We still predominantly work to the 6500 mile interval schedule But recommend additional oil changes, particularly if the cars are being driven hard or "tracked".
The 10,000 mile new service interval schedule was introduced to bring down the "whole life" ownership costs for fleet buyers, so we still recommend 6500 mile intervals.
The schedule we work to is the original Subaru "proper" schedule as shown HERE.
Find the best priced one locally and go to them.
Mike.
