Loss of faith in dealership
#1
The story is: At my last service, my (ex)local dealer told me that my rear brakes needing replacing, to quote "your rear discs are badly lipped and the pads are practically gone" - their quote to replace - £350 plus vat!! So, with the cars impending first MOT approaching, and a convienient reminder from the dealer about said MOT and brakes, I decided to book my car in through a non-Subaru franchised dealer, as my father-in-law works for them. To cut a long story short, my car passed it's MOT with no problems with the mechanic stating that the rear discs aren't lipped and the pads have thousands of miles left on them as they aren't even 50% worn!
What is this dealer trying to do, apart from rip me off for nearly £400!!!!

I cant respond on behalf of the dealer, but "IF" the brake discs were to of been replaced, surely you do appreciate that it is always better to fit new pads with the discs so the old pads dont put unnecessary grooves in the new discs.
It is hard to say how bad they were, but also, why could the dealer not of "sorted" for you under warranty as well as a good will gesture at the least as the vehicle was still under warranty at the time no doubts.
Pity you dont say "who" it was, but if not returning to the network chain, it does not really matter now.
