Funnily enough just spent a bit of time looking into this as both my Scooby and wifes Peugeot assistance have run out.
Right, it's like this. If you want full everything no questions asked take you wherever type cover, you can't beat the subaru assist package at £75 (cover is roadside assistance, recovery, free hire car, hotel etc, and euro cover). The equivalent AA/RAC/Greenflag are all well in excess of £100 without the European cover.
For £60 with subaru assist you get everything except euro cover.
They will also cover other makes for +£15 so £90 for full cover.
I shall be renewing with them for both our cars.

Ah, forgot to add though, that I've never actually had to use it so I don't know how good/bad/quick they are.

If you believe the Which? magazine report a few months ago the AA is head and shoulders above the rest, and the RAC (who I have just left for overcharging on a direct debit for 2 years running) are worst... If you get introduced by another AA member you get a gift or when I joined a month ago we both got a £10 M&S voucher, not too bad...

I've never had a problem with green flag. My girlfriends Astra was on it's last legs and we had to call them out 3 times within 6 weeks. They were always out within the 1 hour and didn't grumble when we asked to be towed back to base. From Cornwall to Bristol and from Derbyshire to Bristol.
