I think he's probably getting confused with the standard Mobil 1. If my understanding is correct the Motorsport is actually thicker than the Shell Helix Plus that Subaru UK recommend.

Someone will hopefully confirm that below.

Isn't it 15-50 - only thing better is Castrol RS 10-60 - don't think that's available anymore.

Got a good contact off theRSOC for this - £20.00 for 4 litres...........

Yep, Otis is correct, your dealer has mis-informed you.

Mobil 1 Motorsport is a 15W50 <I>(fully synthetic)</I> which is actually slightly thicker than normal Subaru recommended oil <I>(5W40 semi synthetic)</I>.

<B>"Come out of the waste gate"</B> That's a new one on me, not heard that given as an excuse/reason before. (that dealer diagnosis is pure fantasy).

You should be alright with Mobil 1 Motorsport, though personally I only use it for track days.

You may have been better with normal Mobil 1 (0W40) through winter as it is thinner at lower temp and offers faster lubrication at start-up.

Wink

Ive always been of the opinion that lubrication prior to start up is of the utmost importance, saves any nasty chaffing and soreness... oops wrong BB!
