Babber: Yeah, that was Tileys. Who/Where is David Hendry? Oh and I can't come out on the pi$$ unfortunately, it's my Wife's Nan's 80th birthday and I have been informed I have to go to her party. Great.

This was the price a local dealer quoted me. Is this a good price? It's about what I was expecting to be honest, but if anyone knows of somewhere cheaper around the Bristol area let me know.

Drexel,

Sounds about right for a cam belt service, I guess that's Tileys mate ? You could try David Hendry, as your warranty is out now ?When they change the cam belt the tensioner may be fcuked, that's another £200 Mine was at 30k Mouses was at 45k

We have friends that can do all that for you, some of them local to us are Scooby experts

Are you coming on out team thorns tilt around the high street this Saturday night ?

Have paid 476 and 450 (had two cars have this service)

That did not include the crank seal to my later expense so 475 is a good price..

PS: Both my MY96's had no problems with the tensioners?!!?

The current one has had the cambelt changed again at 100k due to the crank seal problem and no worried with tensioner then either?!

Cool

My 90k was £538, looking at the bill for what's done I would say £475 is a steal from a dealer, especially if they are donig the seal as well.

You guys may have paid (as I did) an additional £80 for an underbody service and not realised it..... It should be done at 1 yr, 3 yrs and 5 yrs to retain the anti-corrision warranty.

My 45 k service with underbody was £534, with another £385 for two year extended warranty

If you take the car in with a full washer tank, you will be billed to fill it up (by default ) I couldn't be arsed to argue about a couple of pounds

I was shocked at how quick the service can be done. I took my back after the 45 k service (30 K on speedo, but three years old) as it wasn't right. Spoke to a few mates that know Scoobies and they said the timing was wrong. When I got to said dealer and complained they looked at me all strange....... The timing can't be out, I insisted it was so they reluctantly checked. It took about 10 mins to remove the cam belt and oh the timing was out. The cam belt tensioner was shagged and this was what they blamed it on

New cam belt tensioner and cam belt all done within 45 mins easy and off I went......

Cheers Phill C

PS I had argued so much with the dealer over the past few weeks that I really couldn't be arsed to argue about the screen wash!!

Question

DreXel,

What year is your car??

The 30k service is coming up on my MY98 but as its 4.5 yrs old and serviced in line with milage, not age, I was planning on having the cam belt changed as well. This combination is equivelant to the 90k. I have been phoning around and the cheapest is approx £640 ....and up to over £700!!!!

JGM replied to a previous thread, and pointed me in the direction of his dealer. Gave them a call and the price I was given was one of the highest I got ?? The chap I spoke too when asking if I was local, told me some of his customers travel to other dealers for better prices.... and people like myself certainly dont travel to them !

Best be giving Tileys a call then, at the weekend

David Hendry is in Malmesbury a TVR and STi Scooby dealers, a good mate of mine works there, do you want me to find out a cost for you ?

These guys can't do warranty work, and can only be used once the 3 year warranty has expired!! They know there stuff as well, my mate told me my timing was out, after I sent him three text message
