I live in deepest Devon and would like to find someone locally who could set up my STI 7 UK properly as I am sure it is not handling as it should.

Does anyone have a local contact or recommend someone

David,

Powerstation in Cheltenham are just about the best people to do this for you. I made the trek out there to get my geometry done and a stiffer anti roll bar put in. Made quite a bit of difference!

Contacts:

Tel: 01242 238400

Cheers,

Simon

Having been bitten by supposed experts, make sure they know their scoobys. Both powerstation and micheldelver do from posts on here.

I was told by one outfit that I had a bent wishbone and that camber was simply not adjustable on these cars - they'd tried before and failed.

Utter ***** on both accounts. Admittedly, changing camber is quite "involved" compared to simply slackening off a nut, looking at a scale then retightening, so go to someone recommended - like the above!

A big thank you to Tyres Northampton who put my mind at rest regarding the bent wishbone too. The other guys, in Leeds, will remain nameless but a big two fingers to 'em from me.

Another company that is worth the trek is TSL.

The have set my geometery twice now.

They adjust everything, toe is done to the 0.1 cm and camber to the minute!

They have also done a few STi 7s now.

Just watch out for the Trouser sales pitches!

Gav,
One thing I would point out is that new age MY01+ cars don't need the bumpsteer mod as the steering rack position was changed by the factory. But I would say that rollbar and geometry really sharpened up the front end and made the back end more controllable. Also had new droplinks put on which helps.

David,
Whoever you go to, make sure that they have a proper laser alignment rig. I'd consider TSL but it's a bit of a trek for me. (I'm near Portsmouth) Looking to go back to Powerstation to get the Eibachs and another dose of geometry

What's the typical cost of the laser alignment?

Can recomend Powerstation. I made the trip up from deepest Devon and had their bump steer mod. What a difference!
