Gaming Mice
Hi All,
My current mouse is now crying enough after 3 years of abuse from me and the kids so am looking for a new one.
It needs to be a gaming style with side buttons for stuff like COD4, Vietnam and I also prefer wired versions. I don't really want to fork out more than £40!
I've looked at the Saitek GM3200 which is between £25 and £30 depending where you look but it has mixed reviews from awesome to crap!. There are loads of other potentials also - hence the inevitable question?
What are you guys using and any useful feedback you can give me?

Although I don't use it for games, I've got a Razor Diamondback which is called a gaming mouse and it's excellent in windows.
Scroll wheel is just right and buttons are how I like them. It's a bit flatter than other mice but once used to it, really nice to use, I find the bulbous mice odd now!
I'd get one for work if I didn't think some muppet would nick it.

Tony, did you have any issue with software or compatibility with the HABU?
Most reviews suggest it is the one to get but many are saying it was a nightmare to set up (I mean, how hard can it be - a mouse???!).
I can get this thru work for £32 so would seem like a good buy?

I've got this one: Logitech G5 Gaming-Grade Laser Mouse - Retail
very good mouse. You can change the sensitivity on the fly which I always found great when playing BF2 - lower it for when you play a sniper and so on
but there is now this one:

)Still getting used to it for gaming.....much more responsive than my 5 year old logitec

If you fancy a cheaper alternative - try Aldi!! they've just brought out three different variations under the Medion banner, one being a game specific for about £15.

problem is there wireless muskeek, not so good for gaming.
I did buy one from aldi a wileback for my laptop and it was exatly the same as my old logitech mx518, except for being wireless.
Previously i had always used Logitech mx series mice but found them to never last particually long. There a stupid design, if you take the cover off as the cable leaves the mouse it is bent into a 90 degree angle, which always seemed to break and give a loose connection.
I now have a Razer Diamond back which so far has lasted twice as long as the previous Logitech's.
Cant find a fault with it, took a wile to get used to going to it from a mouse of such a different shape.
I would also recomend getting a decent mouse mat to go with it.
Have a look at play.com, i spent ages looking at different sites when iv purchased my gaming accessories and by the time VAT & delivery charges have been added, often play cant be beathen.

after doing a lot of research, ive just ordered a razer copperhead from overclockers (35 inc p&p). it comes highly recommended from various gaming sites. There are cheaper places to by the HABU (made for MS by razer!) than PC World.... (37 quid at overclockers)

NO!!! P&P £2.99!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (remember i've just bought a copperhead from them and i'm a cheapskate - 2nd class delivery..
) £39.99 (save a penny - then wait for postie to deliver - sorry, parcel too big for your letterbox - pick up from post office depot a day later - 100 metres from PCWORLD shop!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
Habus' are 50 quid in Pcworld - didnt realize u cud do an internet buy and pick up for 10 quid cheaper

Further Update,
I popped into my local PC World on Monday (i was just passing honest!!), and ended up buying a Saitek GM3200 (£29.00, good price I thought).
Begin the nightmare!! Took me awhile to get the thing installed and every time I booted up the PC it would either be scrolling permanently to the right or the cursor was invisible! I must have re-installed the software a dozen times and this morning it was totally dead.
I checked the Saitek website and they seem to have big problems with a few products and associated software, the GM3200 included. Anyway - desparate now for my gaming fix I have despatched the good lady to swop it for another Logitech MX518. Shame actually, because the Saitek mouse was a nice feel and really accurate.
I have sent their support a mail but no response - I'll keep you posted.
