Default Barred O2 mobile phone ?

Guy at work has a mobile phone that has been barred by 02 ( was lost- insurance replacement then found again and then found to be barred ) will all networks be barred or just the one that the phone was on originally ?

I say it will be all networks but others say differently, phone is locked to 02 so would have to pay to get it unlocked first so cant just try a different sim card either first.

Barred on all networks in the UK I believe but will work in foreign countries.

My mate had an iPhone4 that he thought had been stolen and he then found 2 weeks later, wouldn't work in the UK, but is now working quite happily in Australia (he sold it on Ebay Aus)

The IMEI only blocks it in the UK. It isn't an international register. I don't believe it is possible to unblock it.

The problem you may have, is that it is also not going to work abroad if the phone is/was locked to O2. You can't unlock it by calling them as the IMEI is banned. I don't believe any of the current Jailbreaks allow unlocking. Have a look here: http://www.iclarified.com/tutorials/index.php

Depends what the phone is though, some can be unlocked via software.

Technically I'm sure a 'found' phone becomes property of the insurance company?
