Why?
Does my E W O P U keys act up on my laptop?
I have updated the driver, not that it needed changing.
I have blown air under the keys.
Oddly when in word or something like that - notepad, for example, the keys are normal.
It's driving me nuts! Sometimes the keys work OK and then they act up - refusing to register even with very hard smacks!
Anyone any advice before I throw the damned thing in the bin

Thanks for your replies.
It's a MEDION Laptop .... not spilt anything on it.
Why would the letters work in Notepad perfectly? To me that sounds like a software issue, not hardware? But I am willing to swap the keyboard, I didn't know you could?

deinstall setpoint, if it is installed, it is a logitech product which can screw thing up a bit by allowing reassignment of keyboard keys.
try doubletapping the windows key and see if that resolves the situation.
not sure which windows version you are using but go to Region and Language - Keyboards and Languages - change keyboards;
delete all keyboards other than your language
delete all entries of “Ink Correction”
Failing that, either roll back to a known good restore point - I am sure a man of your calibre has a good backup strategy in place. If not, boot to winpe, clean the disk and start from scratch with a new install.

Before you do anything that requires expenditure, if you have a desktop PC with a USB keyboard, plug this external keyboard into the laptop and try the keys on this keyboard. This will at least let you know whether the fault lies with the laptop keyboard or if it is a software issue.

Searched for setpoint - nothing found.
I'm on Vista. English (UK) is the keyboard lanuage - no other language is set.
Cannot see any ink correction.
Thanks for your input.

its 99% going to be your keyboard pressure pads underneath.
Just buy a new keyboard or failing that just plug in a USB external..
Sounds like the top line is borked

Oddly I have the same issue with OPL and the arrow keys, booted into the BIOS to confirm it's not software related.
Laptops tend to have three little clips along the top of the keyboard and screws on the back, easy enough to swap over. You tube is the best teacher as said.
