Think they were a bit late to the party with this. All the iSheep have of course been queuing up to buy a 5S but for the rest of us who would have liked a cheaper version of the iPhone some years ago are now all Android converts

Ah, this'll be people seeing the supply chain for the 5C is having it's production output lowered by a large factor, and equating that to meaning the 5C is a complete failure.
Have a read of the "Can't Check a channel you don't understand" section of this article: http://appleinsider.com/articles/13/...ain-cuts-story
Obviously some will state that as the original comment about not relying on what the supply chain is doing, as coming from Tim Cook, is biased towards Apple.
The original thought was that the 5C was to be a budget model to China, I'll admit that I thought that too. But it's clear that wasn't the case, more specifically, I believe the idea is that China is known to rather fond of premium / luxury products (I believe the new S-Class and Bentley Continental have been primarily designed for the Chinese market, meeting the wants and needs they have for the product), and as such, the 5C does make sense. It's NOT the range topper, but it's still seen as a premium device there compared to other devices.
