Which mobile? S4/Note3/HTC?Apple..?!
Guys, I have had my existing HTC for a few years now.
My phone is provided by the company and we have just signed a longer contract and as such I can basically get any phone I want.
I am *well* out of the loop when it come to phones but I want something that can surf the web. A good quality camera is good too, as is good video.
Apps - dont use many, but then again my current phone does not have enough memory for Apps... so cant say as I have used any really.
The sales rep suggested the S4.
Is that a good plan?
Cheers!

Ok so I am thinking S4.
Is there anything new about to come out that will trump the S4 or be a much better step?
I can order the phone now, or any time in the next 4 to 6 weeks so if something good is due out I could wait.

If your not into apps then one of the new Nokia Lumias are ok, S4 is slightly better for features but it's android and their for tramps and poor people. Normally see slags with them lol
I myself am an apple fanboy, but to be honest they never let me down, on my 5s now and it's been rock solid, unsure what issues shrek had, but I'm happy. App Store is the best by far, good thing about apple is if you have iPads and the rest of the family are on them, it's a nice seem less cloud environment.
I've tried android a few times, and even a nexus, but it just doesn't cut it for me, i always get the feeling it's a poor mans Linux kinda of affair, ok they outsold everything but that's cos there cheap tat, iPhone will always lag as their a premium phone..
I work with a lot of enterprise customers
NASA
Royal Mail
Zurich
And the lists goes on, I've also done many pilots with varied degrees of phones from android to windows mobile 8 to apple, in the end windows and apple are always chosen, apple being the execs choice....
If it was me I'd probably say
iPhone
Lumia 1xxx
Samsung

I've always had I-Phones, however about a month ago, i switched to a HTC-One.
I really prefer it over the i-phones I've previously had. It's not quite as easy to navigate as apple has always been good at that sort of thing but it has loads of advantages. Music can be dragged and dropped from your PC instead of using sh*tty I-Tunes, it can be used as a memory stick (unlike I-phones). It has clever things like battery saving mode. It's generally a better thought out phone IMHO than I-Phones. Best of all, its got a built in TV remote that can be linked to my your Sky, surround sound and TV for those lazy days where even moving to get the TV remote seems like a mission.
That's my 2 pence worth anyways - hope it's useful

I came from a HTC One X, when I overlaid the One X on top and there wasn't a great deal of difference in size. The Note 3 has quite a small bezel (the screen goes right up to the edge.)
It fits nicely in my pocket, I don't notice its there as its quite light for its size, I have even sat down and forgot it was there- no I didn't crack the screen, but not recommended to do it too often.
Now if you are coming from an iphone, then it will make the iphone look like a dinky toy in comparison.
Depends where you start.

How is it nicer? Look, feel, materials, ease of use, features, performance etc? The annoying thing about the HTC mini is the performance compromise is disproportionate to the size difference, which is only slightly smaller.

I found the blank slate Android provides to be quite nice, for instance I only have the bits I use on the app screen. The bits I don't use so often are hidden away else where. I also find the swipe down control panel to be a nice feature. That and the gmail app handles attachments better. Blinkfeed is also a nice feature.
Granted these features would are common to Android but the HTC manages them all in a premiumish package like the iPhone.

If you mean like the 5c then doesn't look that cheap or tacky. Specs as well blow that out of the water. Apple appear to be copying Samsung again with the use of cheap plastic
Doesn't look plasticky to me., it is supposed to be similar on the back to the nexus 7 which I think is ok. The one complaint of my nexus 4 was although the build quality is excellent the glass back makes it a bit slippy when you put it down.
Benchmarks are very impressive as well with the nexus 5, showing it to be the most powerful phone available when it launches
