Default Wohoo Linux

I have just installed Ubuntu 13.10 on a USB hard drive and are running from the USB. It works very well on my aging HP laptop, It is quick and so far opens all my old documents in Libre Office suite

If it runs stable for a week or so I shall install with dual boot onto my SSD HDD

Anybody else using Linux?

Suits you. I've always said Android is the Ubuntu of the mobile world.

Brings you a little closer to OSX as well, which is nice.

Ubuntu is a good basic OS. Not dissimilar behind the scenes to OSX. It's only downfall is lack of support by third parties tbh!

Whatever it's better than Windows bloody 8!

Been using it since 6.10 (Edgy), to replace sh!tty Vista. On 12.04 LTS, hated Unity and prefer Gnome, but getting used to it now. I have it dual booting with Windows 7 and starting to use that more now though.

Run Debian on my two Raspberry Pis for it's always-on stability, but wouldn't use it as my main daily use OS. Perfectly happy with Win 8.1 as it happens.

Always preferred LINUX MINT (Ubuntu based back end) and has the same ability of getting updates etc.. like Ubuntu. Has a nicer feel to the desktop. Can't stand the unity desktop

Running 13.4 on my netbook, installed 13.10 on one of my desktop machines, but each time the screen locks, it drops back to an 800 x 600 screen resolution and stays at that once unlocked. As soon as I go to the System Settings option on the dropdown menu, the screen reverts back to the correct resolution. Might blow it away completely, and see if a reinstall cures this particular bug, though at first it was having switched to another machine via my KVM switch that was causing the problem - ie no monitor detecte, but some further testing ruled that out. If a fresh install doesn't sort it out, will be staying on 13.4 for a while.
