I would look for a 2012 Nexus 7 wifi or a Samsung Galaxy tab 7.0 than buying a new tablet under a £100 both devices have plenty of performance and there will be some stock available for just over a £100

I'll check them out. They don't have to be current models, just new (as in never been used)

Tesco Hudl, £60 in Clubcard vouchers or £120 in cold hard cash (or use a combination of the two). Just ordered one for the wife and kids, I'm going to get a 10" job once there's some new ones out (specifically the Nexus 10)

7" screen is no use, you need a 10" screen.

Why? Ok, I prefer 10", but I also use a 7" and it's fine. No use seems a bit overkill!

The screen is just to small to be of any real use.
OK, you can browse the net reasonably well, but movies etc really need viewed on 10" screens IMO

That'll be awesome, like the Next one. The biggest shame is people have a bad time with these cheap tablets and assume the iPad experience is the same.

Prices are excellent and the specification of hudl, argos, nexus 7 are good to excellent respectively.

Android Jelly Bean is perfect

Ok now you're starting to sound like Jack, in fact I don't think i've seen the two of you online at the same time

But yes, the nexus 7 is indeed a very good device.

Nexus 7 is above average for a cheap tablet but you don't get a Cornetto for Icicle money.

This is true, the build feel isn't a touch on the iPad. The nexus does manage to feel distinctly like it was built from tupperware boxes.

Also i'm finding some of the Android apps don't look/feel quite as professional as those on ios.

I had hoped that developers would have started producing more tablet apps by now but they're mostly just stretched version of phone apps, the downside of users wanting everything from free. Google are supposed to be stepping up support, a separate area on Play is a start I suppose.

The good news is that it's getting harder for people to say iPads are useless.

It really does depend what you want it for, I've got some really quite good reference/technical apps on my iPad which simply aren't available on Android (as far as i'm aware).

That being said, a mate of mine has just installed a nexus 7 in the centre console of his navara instead of the headunit and the level of functionality he's got out of it is quite impressive. Like i say, horses for courses.

I agree the Nexus 7 isn't an Ipad, but I would take one over an Ipad Mini.

I prefer the screen on a full size ipad in terms of it's profile as you lose less screen when you have the keyboard present, but right now the Microsoft Surface with its keyboard case is my preference overall.

Only the Nexus 7 is really a Budget out of these though, but I was impressed with the Tesco Hudl, good value for a 16gb 4 core Tablet with sdcard reader, nice screen (1440x900).

PC Advisor really rated it.

Tablets are useless for many, not Ipads specifically.

I have no need of a tablet as I have a phablet and a PC. Just like some people can manage with the basic software out there for a MAC compared to a PC, many can manage with the limited software on an Android compared to an Ipad.

No idea but the Nexus is spot on for a double din unit. Requires a bit of computing know how to get it set up properly but once it's there it works really well.
