Tempted by a HUDL as they are £60 in Clubcard vouchers of which I have quite a few of and some are expiring in November. As I got the clubcard vouchers for nothing in the first place the effective cost to me is £0 (except Tesco monitoring my shopping habits )

Seems a reasonable price, after all a tablet isn't for anything serious
If you're going to spend 800 quid on a tablet eg ipad, instead of a laptop, then you're seriously challenged in my view

An Android tablet maybe, iPads are used in Medicine, Aviation and Music Production to name but a few. I was fully correct at launch, they've replaced the laptops of a very high percentage of users.

I doubt that statement.
A tablet will not outperform a laptop if you look at the overall picture.
OK, a tablet is handy for browsing the net so long as you don't have too much typing to do.
And if you snacking whilst browsing, then the screen will undoubtedly become filthy.

I honestly think tablets are a complete waste of time and they will never replace to true functionality of a proper desktop/laptop.
As I have said on another thread, the Sky F1 team appear to have gone back to pen and paper!

Where people say they have practically replaced a Laptop/PC - why? - compared to a "proper" computer a tablet can't even remotely compete... it simply isn't capable of doing what a "proper" computer can do....
At the moment, my Galaxy tablet is sat on the shelf and I can't see what on earth I will do with it, apart from sell it I guess.....

[QUOTE=Looie;11231606]Have to agree - I got a free Galaxy Tablet when I renewed my phone contract, but TBH, I'm struggling to find a use for it - if there is no wifi where I am, it's practically dead in the water. If you are just a net surfer then they are of some use, but I can do that on my phone just as easily, don't need a tablet to do it...

Virtually all Android phones have wifi tethering, so if you are without wifi use the data package on your phone. Tablets are very convenient for browsing and doing general tasks, but I always revert back to my laptop when doing anything more.

I have to say i have looked at them and cant really see the point, my old man got a samsung one because his eye sight is ****e and cant see what he is doing on his gayphone so he uses the tablet because it has ab igger screen, still takes him 40 minutes to write a short email though lol
Ill stick to my laptop i think! Does far more, alot faster and the battery lasts longer

Yes, basically a tab does not replace a laptop. Even if you we're content with a 10" screen
There is always something you'll need windows or mac for, ie downloading music to my Sony waterproof mp3 I just bought
So the thought of spending more than 150 on a tab. ( which is just bigger phone anyway )
Is ludicrous

Seems I was right again, Android tablet becomes a book end, iPad replaces Laptop. I can't imagine using a laptop on the sofa or when out and about. My MacBook is basically a moveable desktop machine, for everything else it's the iPad.

Only reason phones don't replace tabs is because it's a bit inconvenient taking a call halfway through doing something else

Laptop sales are way down. Most people use laptops for nothing more than browsing and emails... the tablet does a better job.
I never thought tablets would catch on, but evidently I was way wide of the mark... I guess I assumed that like me most people had a proper use for a laptop.... seems that was not the case!
As soon as Apple entered the market and got the price vs features vs portability right the laptop was redundant for an awful lot of people! It pains me to say it, but Apple got this one absolutely right!
Oh and to be fair Jack did call this one right from the start.... arghhhhhh!

Just got back from 6 weeks away, it's lovely using my iMac, I sometime miss using a mouse and it has a Magic Mouse that's Magic, she might be old but I'll put money it's nicer to use than any machine you own.
Samsung keep trying to convince you that a tablet is a phone, I have an iPad and a nice small phone that's in perfect sync with all my devices.
